Adapt Prototype

The Adapt Prototype is an output of the Adapt workshop which aimed to construct an architectural installation to showcase the Research Projects of the ADAPT Group during the 5th Research Seminar of CIAUD. The practical exercise in the workshop manifested an approach towards adaptation, reuse, and repurposing of materials. The project involved building a wooden structure box covered with reclaimed doors from demolitions, serving as a space for audiovisual projection. The door, symbolizing a secure yet ambiguous boundary, both open and closed, allowed spatial change and transformation. Explored as both an architectural and metafunctional aesthetic element, it acquired additional meanings, offering sensory experiences beyond the simple act of opening and closing. This implied a different understanding and evoked varied sensations and emotions in our relationship with the environment.

The workshop took place from September 13 to 19, 2023, at FAUL, with open registrations until September 12 and a limited number of available slots. Requirements included a willingness to participate in construction and carpentry work, engage in philosophical reflection, and explore phenomenology. Participants were encouraged to collaborate in construction within a discussion and hands-on learning environment.
